Leeds United will be aiming to finish their home campaign on a positive note when they face Brighton at Elland Road today, with another strong display and three points the target.

Daniel Farke’s side showed against Tottenham on Monday night that they have no intention of easing off despite already securing their Premier League status.

Leeds battled hard for their point in north London, even while Spurs continued to voice frustration over a controversial late penalty decision.

Brighton have been termed the favourites for the game tonight. However, Alan Shearer has given a more balanced verdict on what could happen at Elland Road today.

Alan Shearer drops Leeds vs Brighton verdict

Leeds will play their last home game of the season at Elland Road tonight and would like to send the fans back for the summer with a smile on their faces.

Shearer has conceded that Leeds will definitely push to sign off from their home season with a good result and continue the theme of positivity around the club.

He insisted Leeds have done brilliantly to survive in their first year back in the Premier League, especially after struggling in the early part of the season.

However, the former England captain feels that Leeds and Brighton will end up sharing the points today.

Shearer told The Metro: I think Leeds will want to sign off on a good result at home, and I think they can be really pleased with how it’s gone for the most part this season.

They’re safe, which is a huge achievement anyway, because at times it did look as if they were in trouble.

“I’m going to go for a draw on this one. I think it’ll be a point apiece.”

The Whites will seek revenge

Brighton hammered Leeds 3-0 at the Amex earlier in the season. However, the Whites have come a long way since then and have emerged as one of the hardest sides to beat in the Premier League in the last six months.

Sunday will be their last home game of the season, and Leeds have an extra incentive to ensure that the home fans go back from the stadium with a smile on their face.

Daniel Farke will ensure that his players do not drop their intensity and look to win the last home game of the season.

Brighton may be the better team on paper, but Leeds at home for the final team this season will be hard to beat, no matter what anyone says.
