Fabrizio Romano confirms major Archie Gray transfer update

When Leeds United failed to win promotion in the summer of 2023, the club had to make some difficult choices. This included selling some of their best players.

That window saw Leeds lose Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville.

Upon all that, Daniel Farke was still able to pick up the pieces and win promotion to the Premier League. No one really give the Whites a chance, with their poor transfer window and having lost key players.

Farke has guided Leeds to the Premier League, and has secured another season of top flight football at Elland Road.

But next season will not be any easier; the club have officially announced the departure of Pascal Struijk. The defender has joined Brighton on a permanent deal, after choosing to pursue a ”new challenge”.

Archie Gray transfer update confirmed

Leeds United will remember the pain of losing fan favourite players.

They lost Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips, with Summerville, Struijk and Archie Gray following in successive seasons. It is difficult to watch them leave Elland Road after how they made the fanbase feel.

However, the story after these departures have been very mixed.

Some have gone on to great things at their clubs, while others have struggled. An unfortunate example is Archie Gray, who is yet to find his feet at Tottenham Hotspur since joining.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Newcastle United have made a move to sign the midfielder. The offer was rejected by the London club.

The report adds that Spurs have not changed their stance on a sale despite the Magpies showing interest.

A new environment could be the best option for former Leeds United star

Archie Gray broke into the first team under Daniel Farke, initially as a right back.

But his performances were so good, he eventually earned a place in the team as a midfielder. Gray was one of England’s best talents at the time and deserved all the plaudits.

It is very unfortunate that his young career has stalled a bit at Spurs. He has been very unlucky not to have played more games.

But it is not all his fault; the club have changed coaches multiple times since he has been there. And that has come with different coaching styles and player preferences.

Gray is still very young and can turn things around, but a move away could be needed to bring him back into form.
