Marsch names new signings in strong team to face Brisbane Roar

Jesse Marsch has named a strong line-up for Leeds United’s first game of their Australia tour against Brisbane Roar this morning (Thursday 14 July, 10.45am kick-off).

It includes several new signings as well as a number of first-team regulars, with the match live on LUTV allowing United fans to see many players in action for the first time.

The game, taking place at CBUS Super Stadium on the Gold Coast, is the first of three matches for the Whites down under, with games against fellow Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Aston Villa to follow.

Representing a large part of their pre-season preparations, the tour is seen as a great opportunity for new signings and fringe players to impress Marsch ahead of the season.

Leeds first game of the 2022/23 Premier League season is now just over three weeks away, when they take on Wolves at Elland Road on Saturday 6 August (3pm kick-off).

As the season fast approaches, now is the time for signings to embed themselves in the team, while Marsch tries to perfect tactics and style of play in what is seen as a new era under the American at Elland Road.

If last pre-season taught us anything, it’s that performances and results are important at this stage for momentum, with last Thursday’s 4-0 victory over Championship side Blackpool at York’s Community Stadium a good start as far as that is concerned.

So after fielding a relatively strong side in the Whites first outing of this pre-season, here is the line-up Marsch has opted for to start the game against Brisbane Roar today:

GK: Klaesson
RB: Kristensen
CB: Koch
CB: Struijk
LB: Harrison
CM: Roca
CM: Forshaw
RM: James
LM: Rodrigo
CAM: Aaronson
ST: Gelhardt

Subs:
Christy
Davis
Drameh
Gray
Llorente
Klich
Adams
Gyabi
Greenwood
Summerville
Sinisterra
Bamford
