Leeds United got their season off to the best start with a win and three points away from home. Starting off against Oliver Glasner’s Nottingham Forest was difficult, but they pulled through.
Daniel Farke’s had a conservative approach to the game, absorbing pressure for most of the first half.
There was nothing much between both sides, who were not really serious attacking threats outside a few half chances.
Forest tried to get into the game in the second half, but the Leeds defence was really stubborn and kept them out. The away side held on long enough as Anton Stach popped up with a winner late in the game.
The German curled in a free kick, catching Mats Selz unaware.
Paul Merson hails new Leeds United star
It was a big win away from home and the Leeds United fans will be happy to have taken all three points.
Saturday saw three of the Whites players make their debut for the first team from the start; James Trafford, Tarik Muharemovic and Harry Wilson. Nico Elvedi came off the bench late in the match.
Each of them showed what they could bring to this team in their time on the pitch.
It was a big match for Leeds number one James Trafford, who impressed on his debut. Paul Merson praised the England keeper on Soccer Saturday.
He said: “I am a big fan of Trafford, I thought he had that composure. He’s got a confidence about him.
“He came out and claimed the high balls at the right time. He didn’t panic at any moment.
“What a bonus for Leeds to have Trafford. What a signing. You always need a good goalkeeper and he will save you points.
“He made a couple of good saves today and when the pressure was on he came out and he collected the ball no dramas.

James Trafford had a solid debut
The former Manchester City keeper had a really solid showing in his first game for his new club.
During set pieces, he commanded his box and dealt with the crosses. Trafford also made some crucial saves to keep his team in the game.
His passing got Leeds out of pressure on more than one occasion.
The keeper was calm, and did not take any unnecessary risks in the game. Leeds’ defenders trusted him in the game, and they formed a very solid partnership to shut out Forests’ attacks.
