Leeds United have made a fantastic start to the new season, beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 on Saturday, but there is still plenty of work to do in the transfer market before the window closes.
The Whites are still looking to add cover at goalkeeper, striker and left-back, while Daniel Farke also wants to bring in a versatile forward who can offer something different in attack.
James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic earned praise for their performance on their competitive debuts for Leeds, and Harry Wilson and Nico Elvedi also played their first league game for the club.
Leeds are looking to add more names before the window closes, and are now on the cusp of finalising a deal to sign their fifth signing of the summer.
Player arrives in Leeds to complete the move
It emerged last week that Leeds were in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign 31-year-old goalkeeper Michael Zetterer in the ongoing transfer window.
Leeds need a solid number 2 behind James Trafford in the squad, and the experienced German has emerged as their top target.
His agent denied the rumours and insisted that the goalkeeper wants to continue at Eintracht Frankfurt beyond the end of the summer transfer window.
However, there is now a fresh twist, and according to German broadcaster Sport1, Zetterer arrived in Leeds on Saturday morning to complete the formalities of the transfer.
A medical is due soon as the two clubs are close to finalising a deal that would see the 31-year-old move to Elland Road in the coming days.
Leeds and Eintracht are giving the final touches to an initial loan deal with the Whites reserving an option to make the move permanent.
Despite his agent’s denials, Zetterer is on the verge of becoming Leeds’ fifth summer signing.
Leeds’ recruitment has been top-notch
The 49ers have made a strong start to the summer with some smart and ambitious recruitment, and Leeds will be hoping to add a few more quality players before the transfer window closes.
James Trafford, Tarik Muharemovic and Nico Elvedi have already strengthened the squad, giving Leeds greater security in goal and adding more quality and experience to the defence. The Whites looked well organised in their opening-day win away from home, and those additions should only improve Farke’s side.
Harry Wilson also showed flashes of the quality that convinced Leeds to bring him in on a free transfer, and there should be plenty more to come from him as the season progresses.
So far, Leeds’ recruitment has not only improved the starting XI but also raised the overall quality and depth of the squad. The club will now hope to finish the window with a few more smart additions and give Daniel Farke an even stronger squad for the 2026/27 campaign.
