This is going to be a big week for Leeds United; they have an FA Cup semi-final this weekend, but will first face Bournemouth in the league. Fans are upbeat following the recent run of results.
The club’s return to action from the international break was full of anxiety after picking up just two points in their last four league games. Nottingham Forest and West Ham picked some points, which meant Leeds had to be looking over their shoulders.
But two wins against Manchester United and Wolves have completely changed the picture at the bottom of the table. The Whites are now eight points clear of Spurs with five games to go. With 39 points so far, many believe another result could be enough for the club to clinch their safety this season.
Chris Sutton gives verdict on Bournemouth vs Leeds United
Leeds are up against Bournemouth, who themselves are no pushovers. The Cherries have beaten Newcastle United and Arsenal in their last two games. And most importantly, they do not have to worry about a game this upcoming weekend. Chris Sutton has given his thoughts on what he thinks could happen when both sides meet on Wednesday night.
”If sixth place does get you in the Champions League then Bournemouth are in with a great shout – they are in brilliant form. The Cherries have just announced that Marco Rose will be their manager next season, but Andoni Iraola seems to be signing off in style.” he wrote in his BBC column.
”Leeds are in decent shape too, after back-to-back wins over Manchester United and Wolves. They are not mathematically safe yet but they soon will be, because they have been phenomenal when I’ve watched them recently. They are so well organised and their system works – there is a lovely balance to their team and they have got a goal or two in them.”
”The Cherries are playing with lots of confidence too, however, and they have not lost in the league since the start of January. I am going with them to nick this one, and leave Leeds with a little bit more work to do. This will be close”

Andoni Iraola’s side will be a tough test
Leeds have not been the best on the road this season, but they have managed to pick a point away from home in their last four games. Andoni Iraola’s side will be a difficult task. They are currently on a 13-game unbeaten streak and have not lost at home in their last six games. The Cherries will have serious motivation, as they push for a spot in Europe in the last five games. Chelsea losing on Tuesday night will no doubt give Iraola’s side an incentive to win against the Whites on Wednesday.
