Leeds United are back in action this evening, with the Whites travelling down south to take on Bournemouth as Daniel Farke’s men look to make it three Premier League wins in a row.

However, with Leeds’ last two results being wins over Manchester United and Wolves, the Whites have effectively secured their top-flight status for next season, meaning they can now prioritise their FA Cup clash against Chelsea this weekend.

Farke is expected to make a couple of changes to his starting XI tonight, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin being amongst those who will likely drop to the bench.

Ahead of the FA Cup semi-final clash this weekend, Ally McCoist made a bold prediction regarding the game whilst live on talkSPORT.

Ally McCoist tips Leeds to beat Chelsea at Wembley

If Leeds were to somehow stay in the Premier League and win the FA Cup, it would be one of the most remarkable seasons in the club’s recent history.

With Chelsea currently being in the midst of a dismal run of form, there is no reason as to why Leeds cannot be confident of reaching the FA Cup final.

Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, McCoist claimed that Leeds will be the favourites going into the game at the weekend, after Chelsea were handily beaten by Brighton 3-0 last night.

“We used to have a giggle about it, the Chelsea job, maybe you’re lucky to stay in it for two years, but you always had managers of experience, stature, and generally speaking, they all won something,” McCoist said.

“I know they’re still in the FA Cup, I get that, massive game against Leeds. You’ve got to say you’re looking around thinking they’ll be second favourites against Leeds, the way it’s shaping up.”

Data suggests Leeds should be confident ahead of Chelsea clash

Whilst the Bournemouth game this evening is largely an afterthought at this point, with any sort of result being a huge bonus, the data suggests that Leeds could be on the brink of accomplishing something extremely special when they take on Chelsea at Wembley.

The Whites have already taken 4 points off their rivals in the league this season, and considering the terrible run of form Liam Rosenior’s side have been on as of late, Leeds seemingly have a good chance of proving McCoist right.

  • Chelsea have lost seven out of their last eight games in all competitions
  • Their only win in this spell came against Port Vale in the FA Cup
  • Chelsea’s last win against Premier League opposition was well over a month ago, when they defeated Aston Villa at the beginning of March (Sofascore)

Hopefully for Leeds, all of their players come through tonight’s game against Bournemouth unscathed, to give the Whites the best opportunity of creating more history in the FA Cup this weekend.
