Leeds United secured a massive 2-1 win at Old Trafford against Manchester United on Monday night, moving six points clear of the relegation zone.

It was their first league victory there in over 45 years, and it could turn out to be a crucial moment in their push for Premier League survival.

Noah Okafor was the standout, scoring twice in a dominant first-half performance as Leeds created enough chances to put the game to bed much earlier.

Leeds’ performance at Old Trafford has led to a few major predictions about their survival bid and how good they actually have been in the Premier League this season.

Darrent Bent U-turns on Leeds United

The former Tottenham striker was one of the pundits who were predicting Leeds to struggle towards the end of the season due to their lack of wins in recent weeks.

However, all that changed on Monday night when the White beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in a league game for the first time since 1981.

Bent has apologised to Leeds United fans and conceded he got it completely wrong with his prediction for the Yorkshire giants.

He insisted Leeds are not going to be relegated this season and wondered why they couldn’t perform as they did at Old Trafford more consistently.

Bent said on talkSPORT: “I want to apologise because I got it completely wrong.

“I didn’t think Leeds would win.

“They are not going down.

“That performance last night made me wonder what they have been doing all season?”

Daniel Farke is set to prove everyone wrong

The Leeds United manager had challenged his side to come away from Old Trafford with something, and they delivered in style by securing their first league win there in more than 45 years.

Daniel Farke looked both delighted and relieved after the result, which opened up a six-point gap above the relegation zone with just six games to go.

Another win at home to Wolves this weekend could go a long way towards sealing their Premier League survival.

Farke won’t be too concerned with how the victory came; those three points could prove decisive in shaping their season.

With survival within reach and an FA Cup semi-final still to come, there’s plenty for Leeds fans to be excited about heading into the final stretch.
