With the final game of the season approaching, Leeds United’s attention is beginning to turn towards the summer transfer window and the work needed to strengthen the squad.
The club’s recruitment staff have been monitoring targets and putting together a shortlist for several months, but their plans have stepped up since Premier League survival was secured.
Leeds are not planning another major rebuild this summer. Instead, they want to make several important additions, with Daniel Farke pushing the board to match the ambition he has shown this season.
However, the priority at the end of the season would be to address the manager’s contract situation and convince him to sign a new long-term deal.
A new contract for Daniel Farke has been underway for months
Farke recently insisted that he is not the right man to stay at Leeds if the club only want to maintain the status quo and not look to improve in the coming seasons.
The manager has met his remit of keeping Leeds in the Premier League and now wants the club to match his ambition to take the team forward in the summer.
According to TeamTALK, Leeds are now ready to sit down with the German coach and negotiate a new contract for the manager.
The club have every intention of matching Farke’s ambition and backing him in the market with funds to take the squad to the next level.
It has been claimed that the 49ers have long been planning a new contract for Farke, who they see as leading the project in the coming years.
They decided to delay talks over a new contract because they did not want any distractions and were focused on keeping the manager fully concentrated on the fight to keep Leeds in the Premier League.
With Premier League survival secured, the owners are now prepared to hand Farke a new contract.

He is in a strong position at Leeds
Even though some Leeds fans still questioned Daniel Farke last year, he has fully won over the supporters this season after leading the club to Premier League safety.
The German coach managed to transform Leeds’ campaign during a difficult period in October and November, tweaking the system and finding a style that brought the best out of the team.
Since then, Leeds have become one of the toughest sides to beat in the Premier League, losing just four of their last 24 league games.
If Farke were to leave Elland Road this summer, it would be a massive blow for the 49ers both in football terms and from a public relations point of view.
The owners now need to show the same ambition as their manager, convince him to stay for the long term and back him properly in the transfer market so Leeds can continue progressing next season.
Such pieces of writing make me wonder why I’ve waisted my time reading it. It doesn’t transport anything that anybody didn’t know already.
