49ers stamp their authority in Jack Harrison negotiations with Fiorentina – fans will be delighted

Jack Harrison Leeds United

The Jack Harrison saga at Leeds United this season has been very interesting to follow. Daniel Farke made the call to bring the winger back into the team in pre-season.

Before that the winger had spent two consecutive seasons on loan at Everton and nearly joined the Toffees on a permanent deal this summer, but they chose to focus on other targets. Farke claimed he needed the player’s experience in the squad for the campaign.

But now, it looks like all things have gone south as Harrison is on the verge of a January exit, with Serie A side Fiorentina currently in talks over a move with Leeds United.

Leeds United could pull plug on Jack Harrison deal

It emerged a couple of weeks back that Jack Harrison was looking for a way out of Elland Road. Valencia were keen on him, but a move never materialized. Then Fiorentina came out of nowhere and pushed for a loan move for the winger. Nothing has been formalized yet but the two clubs are currently having negotiations over the details.

According to Sport Italia journalist, Gianluigi Longari Leeds United have demanded Fiorentina include an obligation to sign Jack Harrison in the deal. Initially it was a loan without an obligation to buy, but rather an option to buy for around £8.6 million. Now, Longari is reporting that Leeds want that clause to be an obligation and the fee raised to £13 million.

Very necessary changes made

Leeds are right to want an obligation on Harrison’s deal. Italian clubs are notorious for getting loan deals with no obligation to buy the player. It has happened multiple times in recent years. Especially with a club like Fiorentina who are struggling in their fight for relegation and could go down this season. No club would take the risk of such a financial burden when they drop a division.

The 49ers know that they made a mistake keeping Jack Harrison this summer, and now they want to find permanent way out for him at Leeds United. He has rarely played this season under Daniel Farke, and his wages are a huge obstacle. If Fiorentina do want the player, they have to pay up and make the loan deal clause a permanent one. No Leeds United fan wants to see Harrison at the club next season regardless of the competition they are playing in.
