Leeds United striker target left out of pre-season clash amid Elland Road links

Leeds United remain in the market for a striker this summer as they look to ease the goalscoring burden on Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of the new Premier League season.

The former Everton forward enjoyed an excellent 2025/26 campaign, scoring 14 league goals to help Leeds secure their Premier League status. However, the team’s reliance on him was clear whenever his goals dried up, with Daniel Farke’s side often struggling to find the net consistently.

That has made signing another centre-forward a priority before the transfer window closes. Leeds want a striker capable of pushing Calvert-Lewin for a starting place while also giving Farke the option of playing both together in certain matches.

Equally important, the club are looking for someone who can step in and lead the line whenever Calvert-Lewin is unavailable, ensuring Leeds have greater attacking depth over the course of a demanding Premier League campaign.

Leeds United are edging closer to a club-record deal for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford, with the two parties already having reached a broad agreement on personal terms.

The Whites are also increasingly optimistic about landing Julian Brandt on a free transfer, with the German international understood to prefer a move to Elland Road over Ajax.

Strengthening the attack remains a priority before the transfer window closes, and it appears one of their targets will likely be on the move this summer.

Zian Flemming has been heavily rumoured to be on his way to Leeds, after getting linked with the Whites all summer.

There is a fresh rumour that Flemming is a likely target for Leeds, and the forward was left out of Burnley’s squad in their defeat against Ajax earlier today.

He is expected to leave the Clarets this summer after being one of the shining lights of a team that suffered relegation from the Premier League last season.

Zian Flemming would be a smart move

The 27-year-old Dutchman was Burnley’s top scorer in the Premier League last season, scoring 11 times in 29 appearances.

He stood out in a poor team, and it is no surprise that a few Premier League clubs are interested in snapping up Zian Flemming this summer.

Only Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored more than Flemming in the current Leeds squad last season, with Noah Okafor scoring three fewer than the Dutchman.

He is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League and this is one market opportunity Leeds should not miss out this summer.

The lads down the pub do not want him. He is 28 next week and we want a younger forward with a long term future not a big target man.

Unfortunately, the lads down the pub don9t have a say in it … all down to Daniel Farke and Adam Underwood.
