Transfer activity at Elland Road has spiked since last week, with Leeds United making progress on some targets. But the club still have a lot of work to do when it comes to departures.
Last summer saw a handful of players leave on temporary deals.
Unfortunately for them, they returned as none of the clubs took the permanent option on them. Largie Ramazani, Mateo Joseph and Joe Gelhardt among other players, have all returned to Elland Road.
The only players to have left the club in this window via a transfer are Pascal Struijk and Isaac Schmidt.
Karl Darlow also left on a free, as he turned down a new deal to sign for Manchester United.
Leeds still have a few names to offload to balance the books and cut down the squad size ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Former Leeds United man admits he is ‘glad’ to be at new club
Daniel Farke decided to leave four players out of the Whites’ squad list for their training camp in the US.
Leeds United will face Wrexham on Sunday to kick-off their summer friendlies in the next few weeks.
Max Wober, Largie Ramazani, Joe Gelhardt and Jack Harrison were the main four names left out of the trip to the US. All of them are expected to find new clubs before the new season.
Wober took the lead, as he signed for Schalke this week.
The defender flew to the team’s training camp in Austria to complete medicals ahead of signing the deal. Leeds had to terminate his current contract to allow him to go for free.
Max Wober has admitted that he did not hesitate to pack up and leave when Schalke gave him a call.
“I got the green light relatively spontaneously,” he said to the media. (quotes via Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung)
“I quickly packed my bags and underwent medical checks. Now I’m very glad that the first day or two are behind me.”

Max Wober is a transfer that everyone at Elland Road would like to forget
His new club have already mentioned that they are aware of the risk in signing him.
Schalke only offered him a one-year deal with an option to extend if he meets a number of games. Wober was going to be a huge risk for any club that wanted to pick him up this summer.
The defender has barely played any football in the last few seasons.
His market value was very low, which played a part in the 49ers deciding to let him go for nothing.
Wober came in as a big signing with a lot of promise, but failed to deliver. Fans will not remember him fondly if he does find his way at Elland Road in the near future.
Another giveaway, seems like a dodgy deal between Red Bull and 49ers? 🙈 💩
