Leeds United fans have been left shocked by the prospect of potentially losing Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Manchester United in the winter transfer window.

Calvert-Lewin joined Leeds from Manchester United last year and scored 14 Premier League goals in his first season at Elland Road, helping the Whites survive comfortably in the top flight.

He has made a solid start to the new season and looks nothing like the player who struggled with injuries and form during his last couple of seasons at Everton.

Former England striker Michael Owen feels Manchester United should have signed him when he left Everton, and the Red Devils are now indeed interested in the 29-year-old.

Leeds make their move amid Man United’s interest in Calvert-Lewin

According to a report from The Athletic on Thursday evening, Manchester United are exploring a winter transfer window move for the Leeds striker.

The report said a deal is unlikely, as Leeds are not interested in selling their most important attacker mid-season.

Beren Cross said in the same report that Leeds are already working on a new contract for the 29-year-old striker to ward off interest.

He still has 18 months left on his contract and will turn 30 next year. However, Leeds are ready to offer him a new deal to secure his future at Elland Road.

Manchester United are interested, but Leeds remain determined not to sell the forward in the winter transfer window.

Leeds should not even entertain Man United’s interest

Selling Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Manchester United in January would be about as toxic a decision as Leeds United could make. This isn’t just another transfer involving a key player; it would strengthen their fiercest rivals while weakening a side that has become heavily dependent on his contribution.

Calvert-Lewin has established himself as Leeds’ focal point up front, offering the physical presence, work rate, and goals Daniel Farke needs. Finding a replacement mid-season would be difficult enough, but seeing him turn out for Manchester United would make the decision even harder to swallow.

The rivalry between the two clubs runs deep, and supporters would understandably see it as a betrayal, particularly if Leeds helped Manchester United solve their own striker problems. Unless the offer is simply too good to refuse, Leeds should not even entertain the idea. Some transfers are not worth the fallout.
