Leeds United are sitting eight points clear of the relegation zone and look firmly on track to remain in the Premier League for another season.

Consecutive league wins against Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers have created a comfortable cushion between Leeds United and 18th-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Survival now feels within touching distance, and one more victory could be enough to make it mathematically certain.

Jamie Carragher is certain that the club have done enough to secure Premier League football for one more season and has now revealed why he was never worried.

Leeds are on 39 points with five games left, and one more win will almost certainly guarantee them Premier League survival this season.

However, Jamie Carragher insisted that he was never too worried about the Whites, even a few weeks back when they were struggling to score goals.

He pointed out that Leeds have lost just four of their last 20 games in the league, which is a remarkable record for a team that earned promotion to the Premier League last year.

The former defender indicated Leeds have done better than any of the teams who are in the race for survival in the top flight at this stage of the season.

“Leeds are a very good team”, Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“When you look at the teams down there, and the way they are playing football, they are very good.

“I wasn’t too worried about the last few weeks, when they hadn’t scored for a while.

“They have only lost four of their last 20 Premier League games.

“That’s some going for a promoted team.”

No one saw this coming earlier in the season

Daniel Farke is keeping his focus for now, but there is a growing sense of excitement among Leeds supporters as the season draws to a close.

Fans understand that one more win should be enough to secure their Premier League status, if the last couple of results have not already settled it.

There is also plenty of anticipation ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea, who are struggling with both form and injuries at this stage.

Leeds supporters will feel they have a strong chance of beating Chelsea again this season and reaching the final at Wembley.

A campaign that once seemed in danger of unravelling back in November could now finish with survival wrapped up early and a cup final still to play for.
