Chelsea suffered another damaging 3-0 defeat at Brighton on Tuesday night, further denting their confidence ahead of the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United on Sunday.
Liam Rosenior’s side have lost their last five Premier League games without scoring a goal, which is the club’s worst run in 114 years, and it doesn’t bode well ahead of the big game this weekend.
Leeds beat Manchester United and Wolves in their last two games and will be riding high into the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea regardless of the result at Bournemouth later tonight.
Jason Cundy predicted last week that there was no chance that Leeds would beat Chelsea in the semi-final, but he is now disgusted with what he has seen from the Blues.
‘Leeds will dump Chelsea out of the FA Cup’ – Jason Cundy
Chelsea were shocking against Brighton, and the 3-0 scoreline could have been a lot worse had the home side been more clinical in front of goal.
Jason Cundy has been left disgusted by what he saw from the Blues at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night and their overall form over the last few weeks.
He is insistent that there is no way Chelsea are going to beat an in-form Leeds side in the FA Cup semi-final and is fully expecting his former team’s cup run to end at Wembley on Sunday.
Cundy said on talkSPORT: “We have got Leeds at the weekend, and I am telling you now, we are not winning that game.
“We are getting dumped out of the FA Cup.
“I don’t know when the next victory is going to come from, and I don’t know where the next shot on target is going to come from.
“I am absolutely disgusted.”
The Whites are licking their lips
Chelsea haven’t had an easy time against Leeds this season. They lost 3–1 at Elland Road late last year and were then held to a 2–2 draw at Stamford Bridge in February.
Leeds, meanwhile, have relished those encounters, taking four points from a possible six against one of their traditional rivals.
That said, a Wembley semi-final is a completely different test, and Chelsea may hold the edge in players accustomed to handling high-pressure situations.
Still, those earlier results won’t be forgotten anytime soon, and Leeds will head into the clash believing they have what it takes to get past a Chelsea side currently battling issues with both form, confidence and fitness.
As things stand, Leeds are surprisingly going into the FA Cup clash as the favourites to beat the Blues.
