If the French defender undergoes surgery, he could miss months of the campaign, which is why Stones is now on the agenda.
The 32-year old is also wanted by Inter Milan, Bayern, Juventus and Aston Villa.

Despite the number of high profile clubs after the defender, Leeds have a project which will attract him.
When Dominic Calvert-Lewin was out of contract after his Everton spell, big clubs were interested but no one really went after him. The concerns over his fitness were widespread.
But the 49ers and Daniel Farke took the gamble to bring him in and it has paid off well.
Stones will have concrete interest, but a move to Elland Road is very plausible. Calvert-Lewin showed how you can succeed at Leeds and still get called up for England, so that should be a selling point if a deal ever comes about.
