Leeds United had an impressive first season back in the top flight after winning promotion. A lot of their players stepped up and are now Premier League proven talent.

Daniel Farke had to turn things around tactically, but the individual performances made the team.

Leeds spent over £100 million last year bringing real quality to the club. They were able to get Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach, Noah Okafor and Jaka Bijol who were crucial to survival.

A lot of last season was also down to the core Leeds stars stepping up.

Playing well in the Championship is one thing, but performing in the Premier League is something else.

Ethan Ampadu earned a lot of plaudits last year for how he lead the Leeds United team.

He was their spark in the middle of the park, and played almost every game. His leadership qualities were also on display as the Whites finished in 14th place last season.

Former Wales star Rob Earnshaw has praised Ampadu for his growth over the last year.

“I think he’s had one outstanding year,” Earnshaw said during BBCs coverage of Wales vs Denmark.

“If you look at Leeds in the last year, their improvements and everything good that comes from Leeds and their energy and pressing and winning the ball back. He’s involved with that.

“With Wales, he’s now becoming the experienced one, the one you can rely on.”

“I actually think there are more levels to Ethan Ampadu. I think he can really go to a new level.

“We saw Harry Wilson last year. What an outstanding year, and everybody saw he’s one of the best players in the Premier League. I think Ethan Ampadu can get to those levels; there’s more to come.”

Ethan Ampadu has been a huge part of Leeds’ success

When he joined the club a few years ago, no one would have tipped him to make such a meteoric rise.

After bouncing from club to clubs on loan from Chelsea, Ampadu found a permanent home at Elland Road. And since he established himself, he has never looked back.

The midfielder has improved ever year at the club, and his efforts were rewarded when he was made club captain.

Ethan Ampadu remains a big part of this project, and penning an extension this summer showed just how committed he is. Fans should hope that he remains at the club for years to come.
