Leeds United fans are looking forward to the future of the club, as the 49ers push forward with their ambitions. Club chairman Paraag Marathe has touched on an issue which will upset the fanbase.

The plan since the ownership took over is to help the club reach new heights.

Leeds have completed the first step after winning promotion for the Championship. Now the next step is to help the team maintain stability in the top flight for the next few years.

A lot of that will involved investment, both on the pitch and off the pitch.

The Whites have put some serious money into the team to build a competitive squad. And this summer, they pursued some serious quality with the likes of James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic.

Off the pitch, Leeds United fans will be eager to see the expansion of Elland Road.

The project was given the green light and has been underway. There has been word that dynamic pricing is something the club is planning down the line, with Paraag Marathe speaking on the opportunity.

He thinks it is a great idea to increase revenue, speaking to the sports industry conference Leaders Week London at Stamford Bridge.

“There’s probably an opportunity to do it in a way that does increase revenue, but also makes it affordable for your most hardcore fans.

“Off the pitch, something that I’ve been thinking about is pricing tickets in the stadium doing dynamic pricing, similar to how the airline industry does it.

“Not just to make to maximise price, but if there’s a way to truly dynamically price based on your supporters, how frequently they go and how much they transact and interact with the club, we can make it more affordable for those folks or certain seats where it’s a little bit more of a hospitality corporate area.”

How dynamic pricing affects Leeds fans

Dynamic pricing is a concept that has been widely adopted across sports for many years.

Teams and stadiums particularly in North America us it widely. Dynamic pricing allows the cost of tickets to increase or decrease according to demand and the date of the event.

However, it does have a history of locking out fans.

This year’s World Cup used dynamic pricing, but faced a lot of problems as the cost surged early on only for FIFA to cut ticket prices in order to fill the stands.

The possibility of that happening at Elland Road is real, if the concept is not adopted properly. Leeds fans and the club have to come together to discuss anything before moving forward.

unlike Bayern Munich who charge supporters a fair cheap price to watch games at the highest level other clubs including Leeds Utd find it fitting to money grab off those who’s families helped establish the club.
