Leeds United have been actively revamping the first team ahead of next season. The Whites are currently in the US in a training camp preparing for friendlies.
They play their first game on Sunday against Wrexham.
The club made the big call to leave four players out for the trip to the US. Joe Gelhardt, Max Wober, Largie Ramazani and Jack Harrison are not expected to be part of Leeds plans next season.
When it comes to exits, Pascal Struijk has been sold, alongside Isaac Schmidt in this summer window.
Karl Darlow also left as a free agent.
Former Leeds United star’s new club cautious about latest signing
Among the four players left out of the US trip, one has already left Leeds United – Max Wober.
The Austrian defender has officially joined Bundesliga side Schalke. News emerged that Wober had gone to the team’s camp to undergo a medical, before agreeing to terminate his deal with Leeds.
Wober will be part of the team as they ramp up preparations in Austria.
Schalke Sporting Director Frank Baumann revealed that the defender only signed a one-year deal as the German club wanted to ‘minimize risks’.
”Because the player has had a lot of bad luck over the past two years, we wanted to minimise the potential risks beforehand. There is also an option to extend the deal, though, if it works for both sides.” he said to club media this week.
”Max was very quickly on board with what we offered him, and at the same time it was important for us to know that he really wanted to be here and was determined to prove himself. He believes he can show his qualities again here.”
The 28-year old has featured in a total of 12 games in all competitions since the start of the 2024/25 season.

Leeds were right to get rid of Max Wober
Even thought it would have cost a lot of money in wages to let go of the Austrian, Leeds made the right choice.
Max Wober has not played much football in the last two years, and keeping him around would drive down his already poor market value.
At least the 49ers now have the defender’s wages off their books and can now focus on adding serious quality to the team. Leeds have signed Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic so far.
Reports suggest Julian Brandt and James Trafford could follow in the coming weeks.
