Club remain determined to sign Leeds United attacker despite transfer delay

Leeds United reluctantly sold Pascal Struijk to Brighton after it became apparent he wouldn’t be signing a new contract. However, they are keen to move on several players who have no future at Elland Road.

The Whites have already indicated that there will be more player sales compared to last summer as the club need to remain within the Premier League’s new financial regulations.

Struijk was sold before the end of June to balance their books, but the club are also open to offers for winger Wilfried Gnonto, who became a bit-part player at Elland Road last season.

Leeds are also waiting for suitable bids for Largie Ramazani, who spent last season on loan at Valencia, and the Spanish club are still pushing to sign the Belgian winger.

Valencia are still determined to sign Largie Ramzani, as signing a winger is still a huge priority

Largie Ramazani impressed on loan at Valencia last season, and the Spanish club have been in talks with Leeds to take him back to the Mestalla this summer.

Leeds want a permanent sale, while Valencia are pushing for another loan deal. The Spanish club would consider a permanent move if the Whites agree to lower their demands.

Valencia CEO Ron Gourlay was in England last month to hold talks with Leeds. However, negotiations seem to have stalled as the two clubs remain far apart in their valuation.

According to Spanish daily Sport, signing a winger is one of Valencia’s major priorities, and they are still pushing to sign Ramazani in the ongoing transfer window.

Valencia hope that Leeds will eventually drop their financial demands and agree to a more amenable deal later in the transfer window.

The Belgian is not part of Daniel Farke’s plans, and Leeds are keen to move him on before the transfer window closes.

Valencia expect late movement on Ramazani this summer and are determined to wait to get the player they want at the right price.

Leeds should not delay his exit this summer

Daniel Farke’s decision to switch Leeds United’s system midway through last season proved to be a masterstroke, but it also left several attacking players fighting for relevance.

As Leeds moved away from a system that relied on traditional wingers, opportunities became increasingly limited for the likes of Wilfried Gnonto and Daniel James. At the same time, Noah Okafor was used more centrally.

Competition for places is only going to intensify. With Harry Wilson joining the club, Largie Ramazani looks set to fall even further down the pecking order.

More than anyone else, Ramazani has been affected by Farke’s tactical change. The Belgian no longer appears to fit the manager’s preferred style of play, and Leeds are eager to resolve his future as quickly as possible.

A move this summer would make sense for everyone involved. Leeds can move forward with a more streamlined squad. At the same time, Ramazani would benefit from joining a club where he has a clearer route to regular football instead of spending pre-season with uncertainty over his future.

There has also been a feeling for some time that Farke was never completely sold on the winger, even during Leeds’ Championship-winning campaign.

With pre-season now just around the corner, Leeds will be hoping to find a quick solution and avoid carrying another unresolved transfer saga into the new season.
