The 49ers hired Daniel Farke with one aim in mind – to help Leeds United return to the Premier League. He almost achieved that in his first season, but fell short in the playoff final.
Last year might have been his most impressive feat yet. After losing key players like Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville in the summer, Leeds were not considered huge favourites for promotion. But a few key signings in the transfer window turned the club’s fortunes around.
This summer, Farke has been backed in the transfer market, with seven new arrivals. Hopefully the quality will help the team in the Premier League.

Leeds have played three games in pre season so far. Up next is Villarreal this weekend. Daniel Farke was reflecting on the transfer business this summer:
“I want to be competitive in the Premier League level. We are on a good path.” he said (via Leeds Live).
“But right now if we have to start like this, we are not ready so we need a few more things to happen. And for that I don’t want to praise us too much so we are not in the mood to reflect.
“I will make sure that we go with the group into the Premier League season where we have a chance at least also of survival. We know how difficult it is. And you have a look on the last seasons and how much teams have spent in order to be competitive, and they were struggling and sometimes some of them were already relegated in February and March.
“We need to stay with foot on the gas. Yes, we are a good path, but not there yet. We have to keep going.”
Leeds are in a great place financially
The club have managed to sign seven new players for under £100million; and the quality among those signings is very high.
Leeds were also given some room on their books when it comes to PSR. Dan James’ new contract has been able to give the club some breathing space financially.
Who could arrive in the next few weeks?
Now that it looks like Igor Paixao will be moving elsewhere, Leeds might need to find an alternative target. The situation with Rodrigo Muniz remains the same, no new moves have been made. There is interest from both sides but as it stands, nothing is concrete.
