After the summer of 2024, no Leeds United fan would have expected the club to be where it is today. The Championship play-off final defeat to Southampton still stings.
That season saw Leeds push for the automatic promotion places only to fall short near the end.
After losing out on Premier League promotion, the club had no other option but to sell some of their best players. That summer saw a mass exodus, with the club losing key contributors.
Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Archie Gray were all snapped up by Premier League clubs that summer.
The Whites made some profit, and balanced their books. Daniel Farke was able to pick up the pieces, and lead the team to an outstanding campaign winning promotion and the league title.
Former Leeds United ace greenlights shock move
The sale of the trio that year was something that hit Leeds United fans hard. Summerville was signed as a young player and came up through the ranks, and Gray was from the academy.
Rutter won over the fanbase after a difficult first season in England.
Crysencio Summerville was recently linked with a return to Elland Road after West Ham United were relegated this year. The Hammers slipped into the Championship on the final day of the season.
Now, the winger looks set for a move to Manchester United. Per Journalist Shaun Irvine on X, the player’s camp are holding talks with the Premier League side.
It is believed personal terms will not be an issue for Michael Carrick’s side as Summerville is open to leaving the London club this summer.
The winger had his best season as a Hammers player last year, with seven goals and three assists.

49ers need to add attacking quality this summer
Since Summerville will most likely not be a realistic option this summer, Leeds need to look elsewhere.
Last season was not a great one for the club’s attacking players – Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and Lukas Nmecha shared the goals across most of the campaign.
There were games this past season that Leeds could have won, but their lack of a cutting edge failed them.
The club are already looking at potential deals for centre forwards this summer, but they also need to consider wide players.
Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto will not cut it as the club hopes to survive another Premier League campaign.
He is definitely not a 50 million pound player but good luck to him. This Leeds fan bears him.no ill will.
