Leeds United made the most of their promotion campaign last year. The Whites bounced back after going down to the Championship back in 2023.
The relegation came as a bit of a surprise to the fanbase, who were very optimistic going into that season with Jesse Marsch in charge.
They invested big in the squad during the summer, but the American coach failed to get a tune out of a team and was sacked. Leeds hired two coaches, but still couldn’t survive.
Next season, the Whites remain in the top flight and will be joined by newcomers Hull City, Coventry City and Ipswich Town.
Ipswich have been rocked by news of Keiran McKenna stepping down just after the season ended – and they will now need to find a replacement before August.
Coventry City seem the more stable of the trio, as Frank Lampard’s side plan for the Premier League.
Leeds United transfer deal set to stall after latest news
This week, Hull City received some shocking news as it was revealed that they are facing a points deduction. The Tigers are over the PSR threshold by around £6 million and need to sort it out quickly.
They need to offload a few players in order to balance the books and avoid a points deduction in the Premier League.
There are already reports that the club have lined up some players who could depart to save the club from sanctions.
Leeds United will be following the situation very carefully. Joe Gelhardt was on loan at Hull City this past season and had a very impressive campaign, scoring 15 goals.
It was reported that the club was open to signing him on a permanent deal, with Leeds being aware.
Though the summer window is yet to close, there should be concern if Hull are not able to offload players quick enough to create room for signing Gelhardt.

Will Hull City sign Joe Gelhardt?
After winning the Championship playoff final, the Tigers will earn over £200 million.
And as a newly promoted side, there is evidence that much of it will be spent on transfers to improve the team before they make their Premier League bow in the next season.
PSR does not prevent clubs from spending, but is rather a set of relegations to keep teams afloat financially.
If Hull are able to offload their players or not, they can still sign the Leeds United forward.
I hope Hull can sign him. Joe wants to be there and they want him.
If it were not for bad luck the lad would have no luck.
Wish you all the best Joe and would have loved to have seen more of you at Leeds. Shame the managers we have had since Bielsa could/cannot see what you really have.
