Leeds United are working hard behind the scenes to set up deals, and they could soon finalise an agreement to sign one of the most-wanted free agents in the market.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin joined Leeds on a free transfer last summer, amid much rancour about his injury issues and fitness record. However, he turned out to be an inspired signing last season.
Leeds need to be careful about their spending under the Premier League’s Squad Cost Ratio rules, and the club are again considering several free agents in the market.
And there is now a growing belief that Leeds are firmly leading the race to sign one of the most-wanted free agents in the market in the ongoing transfer window.

Leeds United in pole position to sign Harry Wilson
Harry Wilson was a whisker away from joining Leeds last summer until Fulham decided against selling the winger on the final day of the transfer window.
The Welshman went on to have a brilliant season, scoring 10 goals and registering seven assists in the Premier League in the 2025/26 campaign.
Fulham have offered him a contract to extend his stay. However, he is largely expected to leave Craven Cottage on a free transfer at the end of the month.
Leeds have been pushing to sign him on a free transfer, and it is now being widely reported that the Whites are the favourites to sign the winger.
Aston Villa are also in the race to sign the Fulham winger. However, the odds have been slashed on Wilson ending up at Elland Road this summer.
Daniel Farke is a long-term admirer of the winger, and it seems the Whites are in pole position to sign a player they wanted to sign last summer.
Aston Villa can offer him Champions League football, but it seems the winger is set to join the large Wales contingent at Leeds this summer.
Ethan Ampadu has already admitted that he has been trying to convince Wilson to move to Elland Road.
He will be a statement signing
Harry Wilson emerged as one of the potent wide forwards in the Premier League and was Fulham’s most dangerous attacker last season.
With 17 goal contributions in the Premier League, he showed why Fulham was happy to hold on to him despite Leeds’ almost getting a deal done to sign him last summer.
However, if he ends up at Elland Road, Leeds would have pulled off a coup, given Aston Villa’s offer of Champions League football is tempting.

He would bring more energy and a potent attacking threat to a Leeds team that at times looked a bit predictable in the final third last season.
Wilson will be a real statement signing despite not spending a transfer fee on him.
If he comes, it will be a good job he’s on a free as his form fell off the end of a cliff in the second half of last season. He is a decent player, but has decent periods rather than being a consistent performer. A bit like Jack Harrison. Not convinced he is worth the wages.
