Leeds United have had a long line of managers who have made an impact on the club’s history. The Whites have had a lot of success in the past few decades.
Fans at Elland Road will fondly remember Marcelo Bielsa’s time at the club. The Argentine manager lead the team to the top flight for the first time in decades, and the football was very exciting.
Daniel Farke is the first manager since Bielsa that has gotten fans to believe in the team once again. He was tasked to bring Leeds back into the Premier League, and he succeeded.
The future of the club under Farke looks bright, and the 49ers need to give him their full backing in line with their ambition.
Former Leeds United manager almost took over at Man United
David O’Leary is one of the most important figures in Leeds United history. The former manager was in charge during one of the club’s most successful periods as he lead the Whites to a Champions League semi-final.
His feat with the club was a major achievement, and did not go unnoticed in English football. Back in the 2001/2 season, Sir Alex Ferguson had planned to retire as Manchester United boss. O’Leary’s run at Leeds was so impressive that he was shortlisted as a potential successor for Ferguson.
O’Leary revealed this on The Overlap: “Michael Kennedy (my solicitor) did, yeah, about it. Alex had recommended about three people or something like that. It never went any further than that. One of the chosen ones, yeah.”
The switch never happened as Ferguson did not retire, and ultimately remained in charge of Manchester United for a decade. Leeds sacked David O’Leary in 2002 after a decent stint in charge.

49ers have to resolve Daniel Farke situation
Leeds United have some managerial issues to deal with heading into this summer. Daniel Farke recently went on a long rant, talking about his future at the club. On Friday, he mentioned his ambition for the club.
He mentioned the club strengthening through the transfer market, and keeping his best players around. Farke was insistent that he was ready to stay at Elland Road, but made his feelings known.
Next season could potentially be a big one for the 49ers, as they have the opportunity to not repeat what happened with Marcelo Bielsa back in 2020.
