As the summer draws closer, Leeds United have a lot to figure out in their future. After clinching another season in the Premier League, the ownership have some decisions to make going forward.
The main talking point going into the end of the season is Daniel Farke’s contract. The Leeds boss has done a great job this season, and everyone assumes he will get an extension.
But his recent comments have thrown some doubt into whether he will be at the club long term. A decision will be made in the summer, and fans will hope the 49ers make the right one.
Outside of Farke, some players at the club are entering the last year of their contracts. This includes key players like Ethan Ampadu and Pascal Struijk. It will be interesting to see what the club does with them this summer.
Leeds United star speaks on his future
Another Leeds United star whose contract is up in 2027 is Brenden Aaronson. The midfielder played an important role in the middle of the season, but there has been little noise over his long-term future at Elland Road.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Aaronson has spoken about this season, and his future at the club.
“I would say because of the league, of Leeds United as a club, and everything I’ve been through – I think it’s definitely been the best season of my career,” Aaronson said.
“The level that I’ve played at I think has been amazing.”
He then made it clear that he wants to remain a Leeds player for ‘as long as he can’.
“It’s [Leeds] been an amazing fit for me and I want to play for as long as I can and create the best moments that I can.”

Brenden Aaronson deserves massive credit for his Leeds career
Leeds fans may have their reservations about Brenden Aaronson, but the midfielder deserves a lot of credit for how he has managed to turn things around. He was a flop in his first season, and was close to leaving Elland Road permananetly.
But his return last season saw him play a big part in the promotion push. And despite playing in a number of roles this season, he has offered a lot of positives to the first team.
Daniel Farke will always continue to trust and rely on the midfielder because he works hard and understands tactical instructions. Whether he remains at the club beyond next year is down to the 49ers.
