Leeds suffer huge transfer blow as midfielder rejects Elland Road move

Leeds United sources have revealed that the club are preparing transfer targets for this summer. The 49ers have a huge job on their hands ahead of next season.

The last time the club survived their first season back in the top flight, they gave Marcelo Bielsa minimal backing in the transfer market. And that played a huge role as the Whites continued to decline and eventually got relegated in 2023.

This Leeds side has some holes in the team that need to be addressed in the coming months. Last summers’ recruitment played a huge part in why the team have been successful this campaign.

Getting quality starting options like Jaka Bijol and Anton Stach improved the team drastically.

Midfielder rejects Leeds United move

Leeds United have a lot to deal with in the first team, especially when it comes to player contracts. Three first team goalkeepers could be gone in the coming months, while Ethan Ampadu and Pascal Struijk are entering the last year of their contracts.

The Whites have been linked with Dynamo Dresden midfielder Kofi Amoako over the past few weeks. The 21-year old has been turning heads over the past year and is attracting serious interest from around Europe.

BILD are reporting that Amoako has chosen his next destination, and will remain in Germany. The report claims that he is set to join Hamburger SV; the club are set to activate the midfielder’s release clause.

Amoako will cost just under £1.74 million, and has expressed interest in joining Hamburger. He has rejected interest from Mainz and Leeds United in the process.

Daniel Farke needs fresh options in midfield

For a large part of the season, Daniel Farke has opted to go with Ethan Ampadu and Anton Stach in the middle of the park. The Leeds boss does not seem to trust any of the other options even though he does call upon them when needed.

Ilia Gruev got a run in the team during the season, and Ao Tanaka has proved himself in recent weeks. But going into next season, the club needs more quality in the middle of the park.

Getting midfield profiles like Kofi Amoako is something the 49ers should look into heading into the summer. More quality options in the team will allow Farke to be more flexible in his tactics and team selection.
