Just over two weeks ago, Leeds United looked like they were in trouble. Coming from the international break, the pressure was on.

Daniel Farke’s side were winless in four league games and picked up just two points. Leeds were set to face Manchester United, and West Ham and Nottingham Forest picked up promising result. However, Leeds pulled a shock win at Old Trafford winning 2-1. They also beat Wolves at Elland Road to go eight points clear of 18th position. Drawing against Bournemouth to hit 40 points looked like enough, but things have turned around pretty quickly.

With Spurs and Nottingham Forest both picking up wins over the weekend, the picture at the bottom has changed a bit. Leeds are now just six points above Spurs and if results do not go their way this weekend, they could be dragged back into the relegation battle.

Former Spurs man makes bold Leeds relegation claim

The Whites face Burnley at Elland Road on Friday night. The Clarets have already been relegated and this game will not have any real meaning for them. Things have not gone well at Turf Moor, as this week, Scott Parker’s future is set to be decided. A bad result on Friday could see Daniel Farke’s side looking over their shoulders.

Sky Sports News showed a graphic of Leeds’ remaining fixtures alongside Spurs, Nottingham and West Ham. Jamie O’Hara, who was in the studio made a shocking claim, saying: “Yeah, I don’t think Leeds are in it. They’re over the hill. They’ve got Burnley at home and will win that comfortably.”

O’Hara has not been a fan favourite around Elland Road due to his comments about the club over the past few years. But this time, he is backing the Whites over his former club.

Whites still have a way to go to secure safety

Everybody still thinks Leeds have done it, but mathematically the club are still not safe. They need to win this weekend to put themselves in a comfortable position before all their rivals play. A nine-point gap over Spurs would meant that Roberto De Zerbi’s chance need to win in order to take the relegation battle into the final games of the season. Daniel Farke and his men have done a brilliant job this season, and now they have to seal the deal ahead of this weekend.
