Leeds United went big in the last summer transfer window as the prepared for their Premier League return. 10 new players arrived into the first team as quality and depth was needed.
Despite the £100 million outlay and the players signed, some fans were not happy with the business done.
Some complained about the lack of attacking reinforcements, while others questioned why the club was unable to land some ‘big’ names. Last summer the likes of Rodrigo Muniz and Bilal El Khannouss were linked with a move to Elland Road.
One big transfer that failed to happen near the transfer deadline was Harry Wilson. Leeds had agreed a deal with Fulham, but the London club pulled the plug at the last minute.
Gordon Strachan gives verdict on potential Leeds United signing
Wilson remained at Craven Cottage till the end of the season, and had a very productive year – 11 goals and eight assists in all competitions.
The attacking midfielder failed to sign a new contract with Fulham, and is set to be a free agent this summer. Leeds United have already shown strong interest in the Waelsh international ahead of the summer window.
Former Premier League boss Gordon Strachan believes Wilson would be a great signing for the Whites.
“Harry Wilson to Leeds United? There are 10 goals a season in there. I think he’d be a great signing,” Strachan told Wales Online.
“He can score 10 goals a season in the Premier League and he’s free, that’s definitely something to be looked at. Absolutely.
“He’s a guy who’s taken a while to find his feet. He wasn’t a superstar kid, but now he looks to be a real asset.
“He looks to have taken responsibility at Fulham and he is a feared Premier League forward now, on the right side of the box he is a big threat.”

49ers should not hesitate on signing Harry Wilson
As the weeks go by, it is almost clear now that Wilson will not sign a new deal with Fulham. And with Marco Silva gone, those chances would have reduced even further.
The midfielder had a brilliant season last year, and has been a consistent performer for his club.
Not many free agents in this market can boast of having scored 20 Premier League goals from midfield in the last three years.
Daniel Farke has always coveted a creative player, and Wilson could fit that bill in this team going into next season. The 49ers now have to do their part and sign the player.
