‘Gutted’ – Daniel Farke makes stunning Leeds United claim after Spurs defeat

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has found it hard to hide his disappointment after the defeat to Tottenham at Elland Road, as he feels his team did enough to not only get a draw, but win the game.

Tottenham escaped Elland Road jubilant after goals from Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus won them all three points against a Leeds side, who looked dejected after losing their first home league game in more than a year.

Noah Okafor equalised before the break to bring Leeds back in the game, and in the second half, the home team were the dominant side and should have scored the goals needed to win all three points.

However, Kudus scored Spurs’ second goal at the hour mark, and Leeds wasted several chances and even hit the post, but could not get the goal they needed.

We dominated Tottenham – Daniel Farke

Leeds boss Daniel Farke has conceded that he feels gutted by the result, as Leeds not only deserved something from it, they absolutely dominated Tottenham.

He insisted Leeds deserved to win the game, and it’s just very disappointing that they had to leave empty-handed at the final whistle.

The manager conceded that Leeds paid for making a couple of small mistakes, but feels his team should be proud of the performance they put out.

Farke told TNT Sports: “When you lose, the first impression is that you are always disappointed. You don’t win any points, which was more than possible today.

“We were the better side today. In all aspects, we have dominated this game.

“We should have deserved not just a point, but to win this game. I am gutted for us because we didn’t win anything out of this game.

“That’s football. One or two mistakes are sometimes punished. But after one or two days, the boys can be proud of their performance.”

Not easy to remain unbeaten at home in the Championship – Thomas Frank

Leeds’ proud home record came to an end today as they lost their first game at Elland Road in over a year, and Spurs boss Frank stressed that it was no mean feat even if they were in the Championship last season.

He also added that the Whites did a very good job of defending well and were very brave on the ball when they needed to be in the final third.

Frank told reporters after the game: “I know how difficult it is in the Championship (to go unbeaten).

“They concede very little xG. What’s hidden in stats is five or six top chances where we flash ball across their box.

“I would rather praise them. They were good. Defended well. Very brave on the ball.”

Can you name these 10 former Leeds United defenders?
