Leeds United fans were down after a disappointing defeat at Wembley in the FA Cup. But they knew they had to show up for the players on Friday night.
In the game against Burnley, the stakes were high with the Whites needing a win to take a step closer to safety. And the team duly delivered, scoring just eight minutes into the first half. The atmosphere and intensity at Elland Road proved to be too much for the visitors, whose boss Mike Jackson admitted his side were just overwhelmed in the first 45 minutes. Leeds added two more goals in the second half, with Burnley pulling one back just before the end of the game.
Leeds United star sends message to relegation rivals after win
After the match, Anton Stach who opened the scoring with a long-range effort, spoke about Leeds’ upcoming fixtures. He said that the next few games are very important to the team and that they have confidence following the win at home.
“The last three games (against Tottenham, Brighton and West Ham) are very important for us, because we are in a good mood.
“Just look at it here today with the fans, it is amazing, but we are very hopeful that we get the wins in the upcoming games also.
“I think the first half was very intense and the second half was good, but we lost a bit of our structure sometimes.
“In the end though I think we defended very well and it’s a deserved win for us. It’s also a very important result and I’m very glad we were this on it today.”

Anton Stach’s return to the team has been a huge boost
Daniel Farke admitted that rushing the German in the FA Cup semi-final was a gamble that did not pay off, but Leeds are better off with the midfielder in the team. He just provides great impact whenever he is on the pitch. Tonight, he once again showed his quality and his class in a brilliant display. Stach wins everything around him and is driving force in the middle of the park to get the ball up the pitch. When Farke went with three in midfield, most fans complained but it turned out to be the best move. Stach had freedom high up the pitch and was a huge part of the attack in the win.
