The first order of business for Leeds United after this past season was to tie down captain Ethan Ampadu to a new deal. Club chairman Paraag Marathe said both parties did not hesitate to sign the deal.

However, things have been slow on the transfer front.

Marathe promised the fans that the team will invest once again, but warned that there would be a more logical approach this time around. The new Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rules will also factor.

So far, the only official transfer at Elland Road has been the departure of Pascal Struijk.

His exit came out of almost nowhere, as Brighton quickly wrapped up a deal to sign him. Per sources, Struijk wanted a new challenge and was not willing to sign a new deal, adding to why Leeds accepted the offer to sell him.

Harry Wilson arrives ahead of Leeds United announcement

There has also been news of Leeds United players being offered new contracts.

Alex Cairns, Karl Darlow and Sam Byram all have offers on the table, despite all three of them currently being free agents.

It looked like Leeds had confirmed their first signing of the summer when Harry Wilson agreed to join them. Since the news broke, it has been confirmed that all the formalities had been agreed.

Yet the club was not closer to officially confirming his transfer.

As of Wednesday, Wilson has been spotted at Elland Road. He is expected to wrap up an loose ends left before the club announce him as a Leeds United player going forward.

Graham Smyth pointed out that the announcement had been pushed back, earlier this week.

Huge boost for Daniel Farke

Outside Leeds fans, no one will be happier for this deal than Daniel Farke.

He made it a point to call out the ownership about strengthening the team ahead of next season, and his complaints have been heard. Leeds beat serious clubs to sign Wilson.

Now, the club have a player who immensely improves the quality of the team.

Outside Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor, the club did not really have anyone to rely on as a goal threat.

Harry Wilson is a creative playmaker who can also chip in with goals. He can play in midfield or out wide as an attacker – which will bring a lot of flexibility to Farke’s system.
