Leeds United have already secured their Premier League status for next season with games remaining, and focus is slowly starting to shift towards the summer transfer window.
Now that survival is confirmed, the club are stepping up their work behind the scenes and continuing to look at some potential targets before the campaign comes to an end.
Unlike last summer, Leeds are not expected to make wholesale changes to the squad, but they are still keen to strengthen several key areas ahead of the 2026/27 season.
However, Leeds are plotting player sales, and they are now in talks with a European club for the exit of Wilfried Gnonto in the upcoming transfer window.
Wilfried Gnonto is set to leave Leeds United
Gnonto has been a bit-part player at Leeds and has been reduced to making appearances from the bench in the Premier League this season.
He is one player widely expected to move on from Elland Road in the upcoming transfer window to play a more prominent role at a different club.
And according to Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenburg, talks are underway for Leeds to sanction the exit of Gnonto in the summer transfer window.
German club SC Freiburg have emerged as the likely destination for Gnonto, with the Bundesliga side looking to secure a deal for his signature in the coming weeks.
Negotiations are underway between the two clubs, and Leeds are prepared to either sell him or accept a loan offer with an obligation to buy.
A deal is still not in place between the clubs, but Freiburg have been working on reaching an agreement with Leeds for weeks.
The winger has no future at Leeds
Once Daniel Farke changed formations in the middle of the season, it became clear that Gnonto did not have a natural place in the team.
The Italian has played in cup games, but has largely been reduced to coming on from the bench in the Premier League.
The Leeds manager is also known for consistency in selection, and he has rarely looked at the winger as a starting eleven option since changing the system.
Gnonto was linked with a move away from Leeds in the winter window, but he remained at Elland Road. However, he is almost certain to leave Leeds in the summer.
Leeds will hope to make a deent profit from his sale and reinvest that money in the squad.
