Leeds United will be hoping to make history by beating their opponents on Sunday. Daniel Farke’s men have yet to beat Manchester United at home in the last 50 years.

Going into the game, the stakes have been raised seeing the events of last weekend.

Both teams failed to pick up a win and will no doubt be eager to get a result over their rivals. The visitors are in poor form and have yet to win in their last five games, while Leeds have just one defeat in the league.

Michael Carrick has warned that situations like this bring players together and that gives the team a good chance of winning.

Daniel Farke has also said that Leeds will want the favourites tag, but will have to prove it on the pitch.

Ian Wright is the latest to back Leeds United to get a win on Sunday. The former Arsenal man believes that there is no reason to look past the Whites to get three points against their bitter rivals.

“I think you can’t look further, and it’s Leeds as well.” he said speaking on The Overlap.

Wright also said that this game is very important for Michael Carrick at this point in the season. If the Man United boss can get something from Sunday’s game, then the noise around him will go down for a while.

“It’s Leeds vs Man United and what that result means.

“He has to get through that result, and he might get a breather; then you can start thinking about how it’s going.”

Whites have dropped important matches this season

With almost everyone tipping Leeds United to beat their rivals on Sunday, complacency can easily set in.

The home side definitely have the edge, but Manchester United have a good team with good players and can pull off results. Farke’s side are not unbeatable, and in some games this season they have disappointed.

They took the lead against Brighton, but backed off and only left with a draw.

Against Crystal Palace, they failed to take their chances and took a point. And even last weekend against Arsenal, they could have capitalized on their one-goal lead but conceded two cheap goals and ended up losing.

Daniel Farke must make sure the club are ready for Sunday, and will not drop points in such a big game.
