“If Leeds get…” – Alan Pardew delivers bold Leeds relegation claim on talkSPORT

Leeds United’s 3-0 win over Wolves on Saturday has opened up an eight-point gap over Tottenham in the relegation zone, with just five games left to play.

Spurs, meanwhile, dropped two crucial points after conceding a late equaliser against Brighton and are still waiting for their first Premier League win of 2026.

Leeds cruised past Wolves, and when you add that to last week’s win over Manchester United, they now look almost certain to stay up.

Daniel Farke has urged his players to stay focused and not get carried away, insisting Tottenham can still mount a late push while Nottingham Forest and West Ham are still fighting.

But Alan Pardew feels Leeds are just about there and have effectively secured their Premier League survival.

Nottingham Forest’s win on Sunday further complicated matters for Tottenham, and West Ham will be in action later tonight against Crystal Palace.

However, Alan Pardew has focused on Leeds and their survival fight, and conceded that they are no longer looking like the side that could get sucked into the bottom three.

He insisted that one more win from their last five league games will seal their Premier League survival, if they have not already done so with six points from their last two games.

Pardew said on talkSPORT while discussing the survival race: “Let’s go firstly to Leeds United; they are on 39 points.

“Just two weeks ago, we were saying Leeds are in big trouble; they are not anymore.

“They have got themselves in a great position. They are on nine wins; ten wins usually does the job.

“That will put them at 42, and if they get that 10th win, I think they are safe.”

Leeds are on the cusp

Daniel Farke has made it clear he doesn’t want his Leeds players getting ahead of themselves, pointing out that the season has been anything but smooth. Still, there’s no denying they’re in a much stronger position now.

They’re back in Premier League action on Wednesday night against Bournemouth, before shifting focus to an FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea next Sunday.

With games against Tottenham, Burnley and West Ham still to come, Leeds are edging closer to confirming their place in the top flight for another year.

Farke is keeping expectations in check, but there’s a quiet belief building that survival is well within reach.
