Leeds United are pushing ahead with their summer recruitment plans and would like to have several new faces in place by the time pre-season begins next month.
Having secured a respectable 14th-place finish in the Premier League last season, the club are now focused on taking the next step and strengthening several areas of Daniel Farke’s squad.
Adding reinforcements in midfield is high on the agenda, with Leeds keen to increase both the quality and competition for places in the middle of the park. Any arrivals in that area could also lead to changes elsewhere, with at least one current player potentially facing an uncertain future.
At the same time, Leeds are continuing to explore options in attack and are juggling several transfer negotiations as they look to complete multiple deals before the new campaign gets underway.
Beren Cross reveals Harry Wilson transfer update
Harry Wilson was a whisker away from joining Leeds on a deadline day deal last summer before Fulham pulled the plug on the move with minutes left in the window.
He is out of contract at the end of the month, and while Fulham have offered him a new deal, the Welshman is largely expected to leave the club.
Leeds, Everton and Aston Villa are interested in the 28-year-old winger, and the Whites have offered him a big contract to consider a move to Elland Road.
According to The Athletic’s Beren Cross, Leeds have held positive talks with Wilson and his representatives over a deal to sign him on a free transfer.
Both sides are working towards finalising an agreement that would see the winger join Leeds on a free transfer this summer.
Competition for his signature is fierce, but Leeds are confident of getting a deal done and taking him to Elland Road in the coming weeks.
His arrival will lead to some changes in the Leeds squad
Wilson was one of the best wide forwards in the Premier League last season, and he was the main man in attack for Fulham.
However, if he ends up at Elland Road, it will almost certainly seal Wilfried Gnonto’s fate and push him out of Elland Road this summer. His opportunities will get even more limited if he stays at Leeds.
Wilson’s potential arrival will also put pressure on Noah Okafor’s place in the team after a tough World Cup with Switzerland.
The Welshman is likely to get guarantees over playing time in the starting eleven if he agrees to join the Whites in the ongoing transfer window.
Okafor plays on the left wing Wilson if signed on the right wing. Gnonto’s best position is on the left wing and is a good back up to Okafor. Aaronson would be a very good back up to Wilson so i would keep both Gnonto & Aaronson. It is a long tough season and injuries will no doubt play a part, Dan James?
Sre we ever going to sign someone, before prices go crazy, all these fake links, and no nearer to a signing 🙈
We need more than just freebies, whats happened to all the links, are you waiting another 5yrs when they will be free as well? 🙈
