Leeds United are now eight points clear of the relegation zone and look well on course to stay in the Premier League for another season.
Back-to-back league wins over Manchester United and Wolves have opened up a healthy gap between Leeds and 18th-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
Survival is now firmly within reach, and one more win could be enough to make it mathematically certain in this campaign.
Leeds were a major talking point on Monday Night Football, and their impending FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea also came up during the discussions.
FA Cup triumph predicted for Leeds United
The Sky Sports studio shared their relegation predictions on Monday Night Football, with presenter Dave Jones joined by Jamie Carragher and West Ham legend Dean Ashton.
Both pundits expect Leeds to secure safety comfortably, even though they have them losing to West Ham on the final day. Explaining his reasoning, Ashton went further than simply saying Leeds would already be safe by then.
“In my head, I think Leeds are going to get to the FA Cup final as well”, said Ashton.
“I have factored that into my predictions and why I think West Ham will beat them.”
If Leeds beat Chelsea on Sunday and reach the FA Cup final on May 16 at Wembley, they are likely to play their final home league game against Brighton in midweek before travelling to face West Ham.
Looking more closely at their predictions for the four teams battling to avoid the final relegation spot, both agreed that Tottenham are set to go down.
Ashton predicts Leeds to finish on 46 points, Nottingham Forest on 42, and West Ham on 40, while he expects Spurs to pick up just five more points and end the season on 36, including a home defeat to Leeds.
Carragher disagrees on that particular game, backing Spurs to beat Leeds, but still believes they will be relegated. He has Leeds finishing on 45 points, Forest on 43, and West Ham on 41, with Tottenham dropping into the Championship on 39 points despite losing only one of their final five matches.
An FA Cup final would be the icing on the cake
Daniel Farke is keeping his feet on the ground, but there is a clear sense of excitement building among the Leeds supporters as the season nears its end.
Fans are well aware that one more victory should effectively secure their Premier League status, if the last couple of results have not already taken care of it.
There is also plenty of anticipation ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea, who are struggling with both form and injuries right now.
Leeds supporters will believe they have a real chance of getting the better of Chelsea again this season and reaching the final at Wembley.
A campaign that once looked in danger of unravelling back in November could now finish with survival wrapped up early and a trip to a major cup final on the horizon.
