Leeds United find themselves eight points away from the relegation zone after picking up six points in their last two games. Their win against Wolves this weekend was the first time this season they have won two league games in a row.

It has been a magnificent turnaround since before the international break, where the club had just two points from their last four games. Saturday saw the home side breeze past Wolves. The Whites were already two goals up in the first half, and added a third just before the final whistle.

The picture has changed at the bottom of the table in the past few weeks, especially with Spurs’ collapse and West Ham and Nottingham Forest picking up points.

Simon Jordan gives Leeds United relegation verdict

As things stand, Leeds United are looking in the clear, they have a gap between themselves and danger now. Despite all of that, there are still five games left in the league and a lot of things can happen in a short window. If the Whites managed to go eight points clear in the space of two games, things can change as quickly.

Simon Jordan was debating the relegation battle on talkSPORT, agreeing that Leeds are close to safety. He also said he thinks Spurs or West Ham could join Wolves and Burnley in the bottom three.

“Forest and Leeds are away now, I think it really is between West Ham and Spurs (to see who will go down).”

“I’ll reserve my judgement until after the game tonight, if West Ham beat Palace, I think I’ll change my mind (and pick to Spurs to go down instead of West Ham).”

Whites need to seal the deal soon

39 points seems to be the magic number; the past five years, every team that has reached this points tally has survived relegation. There are five games left and Daniel Farke’s men can continue the momentum and hopefully get into 40+ points. The points tally will not matter as much as the results, even with a points gap, the Whites cannot afford to drop points going forward. They have Bournemouth next, who will be a tough task seeing as they beat Arsenal and Newcastle in consecutive weeks. If they manage to get something from this game, Daniel Farke would have achieved the impossible.
