Daniel Farke’s future at Leeds United has dominated the headline over the last couple of weeks. The German was vocal about his plans towards the end of the season.
In the press conferences in the final games of the season, Farke made sure to say that he wants to stay at Elland Road.
However his comments that dominated the headlines, was saying that the 49ers need to match his ambition. The Leeds boss referenced the 2020 season after Marcelo Bielsa had kept the club up in the league.
The team was not backed in the transfer market and that lead to their eventual decline.
If everything goes according to plan, Farke and the 49ers will discuss a new contract. There is optimism that it could be soon, after Ethan Ampadu signed a new deal until 2030.
Leeds United chairman speaks on Daniel Farke’s future
It is almost sure that Farke will sign a new contract, and there is also positive news from the owners’ side.
Parag Marathe sat down with BBC Sport and spoke about the future of Leeds United. In his submission, he said that the club wish to have Daniel Farke in charge for the long term.
“I hope Daniel is here, not just this coming season but many beyond that. No-one needs to convince each other about a plan and ambition because we all have it.
“Leeds United is bigger than me, him – all of us. We have it going on a track, we just need to not have it derailed.
“We are absolutely aligned. My hope and expectation is that he is here for years to come.”

49ers need to back him on the pitch too
After giving Ethan Ampadu an extension, it is clear that the club will work on other deals too. That will most likely include Daniel Farke, if all parties agree.
If Farke does eventually sign an extension, the owners will need to do their part on the pitch too.
Leeds will play in the Premier League next season, and they will need reinforcements in the squad. The team signed 10 players last summer, which helped them survive relegation.
Going into next year, they need to improve on the players and depth.
Paraag Marathe did mention that the team will not be ‘chasing’ players in the transfer market, but will target signings who will fit the team.
