Leeds United managed to snatch a result away from Spurs on Monday night. In a must-win game for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, they could not get the job done.
West Ham lost to Arsenal on Sunday, which guaranteed the Whites staying in the Premier League for another season. So Spurs had a big chance to go four points clear of their London rivals. They even took the lead in the game on Monday night with Mathys Tel giving them the lead in spectacular fashion. Later in the game, it was Tel who was found guilty of a foul inside the box, gifting the away side a penalty. Dominic Calvert-Lewin stepped up and dispatched the spot kick to level the scores. The game went on and even had 13 minutes of added time, but the deadlock could not be broken.
Leeds United fans made their feelings toward Djed Spence known in Spurs game
Former Leeds United star Archie Gray was named on the bench for the game on Monday night, but was unable to come on late in the game. Djed Spence however, came on with five minutes remaining in regular time. The England star spent a few months on loan at Elland Road in 2023.
Spence was greeted with boos, as fans made it known that they did not forget his time on loan. It was reported that the defender’s loan deal was cut short as he had attitude problems and did not get on with Daniel Farke.

What happened when defender was on loan at Elland Road?
Djed Spence has done well for himself since leaving Elland Road; being a solid first team star with Spurs and becoming an England international. But his loan spell back in 2023 was terrible – he only played a total of seven games. A ligament problem kept him out for most of the season, but Daniel Farke’s comments when asked about cutting the player’s loan spell was quite cryptic: “Nothing major, we decided after the new year’s game.”
The crowd reacting to him coming on in Monday night’s game was a stark reminder about how Leeds United fans do not forget things easily. The last time out against Bournemouth, they also booed Tyler Adams after he left the club and made some controversial comments when asked about his time in West Yorkshire.
