With Leeds United nine points clear of the relegation zone with four games to go, fans can celebrate avoiding relegation. Daniel Farke’s men clinched a huge result on Wednesday night.

News around the club in the past few months hint that the 49ers are already plotting moves ahead of the transfer window. The team needed an injection of quality before the season began, and the recruitment played a big part in how the team fared this campaign. And with the club almost definitely getting another season in the top flight, the 49ers will be active in the market, to achieve their ambition of making the club a fixture in the top flight.

Leeds keen on deal for Juventus flop

Juventus striker Lois Openda has been linked with a move to Elland Road over the last few weeks. The Belgian striker joined the Italian side on loan with an obligation to buy. But after just two goals in 37 appearances this season, Juventus have realized that they made a huge mistake. Reports in Italy say that the Serie A side will look for ways to offload the striker this summer.

Leeds United have been credited with interest, and according to the Football Insider, the Whites will pushed for a loan deal with the option to buy. Juventus want a quick sale in order to recoup the £35 million they spent, so the deal could be a permanent one.

49ers should stay away from this deal

A deal for Lois Openda should be a serious red flag for Leeds United and their ownership. The Belgian striker has not been the same over the last few seasons, he has gone from 28 goals in 2023/24 to just 15 goals over the last two campaigns. Juventus have realized they made a huge mistake bringing him on a big money deal, and now they have to offload him to cut their losses.

Lois Openda last four season
Goals scored | All competitions
Season Games played Goals
2022/23 42 21
2023/24 45 28
2024/25 45 13
2025/26 37 2

Aside the financial side of this possible transfer, stylistically, Openda will not a be a good fit for the Premier League. He is built more in the mould of a wide player, but is often deployed as a striker. As seen this season, this Leeds system under Daniel Farke thrives on a focal point in attack who is great with his back to goal, and is physical enough for England. The club should be looking for more profiles like Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha, rather than Openda.
