Leeds United are heading into a crucial period in the transfer window as they continue to reshape Daniel Farke’s squad ahead of their return to the Premier League.

The Whites have already agreed a deal to sign Harry Wilson on a free transfer, with only the formal announcement still outstanding, and have now stepped up their search for a replacement following Pascal Struijk’s departure.

There is also likely to be movement in the goalkeeping department. Karl Darlow has yet to decide to sign a new two-year deal, and Lucas Perri could also leave before the end of the transfer window.

Leeds are almost certain to sign a new goalkeeper, and Zion Suzuki has emerged as one of their top goalkeeping targets as they push to secure a deal for his signature.

Juventus are unlikely to sign Zion Suzuki

Japan’s exit from the World Cup is expected to accelerate the talks around Suzuki and his potential departure from Parma in the ongoing transfer window.

Leeds have been working on a deal for weeks and are believed to be in pole position to secure his signing ahead of rivals such as Aston Villa this summer.

Juventus have also shown an interest in the Japanese goalkeeper, but according to Parma-focused Italian journalist Simone Lorini, the Serie A giants won’t be signing him.

They have their eyes on him, but have more or less dropped out of the race due to Parma’s high valuation and the involvement of Premier League clubs.

Juventus are in no mood to pay big money for a goalkeeper who Parma believe can fetch as much as £30m following his World Cup heroics with Japan.

They believe Suzuki is Premier League-bound amid interest from Leeds and Aston Villa this summer.

He showed against Brazil why Leeds want him

Japan suffered late heartbreak last week as Brazil scored deep into stoppage time to seal a dramatic victory and bring their World Cup journey to an end.

Zion Suzuki did everything possible to keep Japan in the contest. The Parma goalkeeper turned in an outstanding display, producing a series of excellent saves and further underlining why he is expected to be one of the most in-demand goalkeepers this summer.

He was particularly impressive in the first half, pulling off a superb save to deny Matheus Cunha before repeatedly showing his authority by coming off his line to deal with crosses and sweep up danger behind his defence.

His finest moment arrived after the interval. Suzuki somehow managed to keep out what looked a certain goal from Vinicius Junior, producing a remarkable save that will surely be remembered among the standout moments of the tournament.

Displays like this are exactly why Leeds United have made the Japan international one of their top goalkeeping targets and are working hard to secure his signature.
