Leeds United face a crucial few weeks in the transfer market as they continue reshaping Daniel Farke’s squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Whites have already wrapped up a deal for Harry Wilson on a free transfer, with only the official announcement still to come, and are now stepping up their search for a replacement for Pascal Struijk.

There is also expected to be movement in the goalkeeping department. Karl Darlow is close to signing a new two-year contract, providing Leeds with some much-needed stability ahead of pre-season, but the club are still determined to recruit another goalkeeper.

Lucas Perri is widely expected to leave Elland Road this summer. Leeds have identified their preferred replacement and are moving fast to secure an agreement to sign him.

Leeds United emerge as favourites to sign Zion Suzuki

Zion Suzuki has emerged as Leeds United’s number one goalkeeping target, despite concrete interest from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

Leeds have been in talks with his representatives and Parma over a deal and are preparing to table a bid to sign him in the ongoing transfer window.

According to SportItalia journalist Gianluigi Longari, Leeds have ramped up their efforts to sign the Japan goalkeeper before the start of the new season.

Leeds have been working on a deal to sign him for weeks, and have moved into pole position, ahead of ther suitors, in the race to secure a deal for Suzuki.

The Whites are prepared to break the bank to secure his signature, and are even ready to offer more than the £26m figure that has been discussed as his potential price tag.

Leeds do not want to squander this opportunity, and are prepared to push the envelop who has emerged as one of the most sought-after goalkeepers with his performances in the World Cup.

His performance against Brazil showed why Leeds want him

Japan were left heartbroken as Brazil struck deep into injury time to snatch a dramatic winner and end their World Cup campaign.

Zion Suzuki did everything he could to keep his side in the contest. The Parma goalkeeper produced a string of outstanding saves and looked every bit a player destined to be one of the most sought-after goalkeepers on the market this summer.

He was at his best in the first half when he denied Matheus Cunha with a superb stop, while his command of the penalty area was equally impressive. Time and again, Suzuki came off his line to claim crosses and sweep up danger, taking the pressure off Japan’s defence.

His standout moment, though, came after the break. Suzuki somehow kept out what looked like a certain goal from Vinicius Junior, producing a stunning save that could easily be remembered as one of the best of the tournament.

Performances like that explain why Leeds United are so keen on the Japan international and are pushing hard to press home their advantage.
