Leeds pushing to ‘agree terms’ with World Cup star after Daniel Farke steps in

Pascal Struijk’s departure from Leeds United was one the club was aware of. The club quickly wrapped up the deal with Brighton before the PSR deadline.

It was a convenient sale, as the club needed the funds to balance last year’s books.

Struijk was not keen on extending his stay at Elland Road, and so the sensible choice was to make some money off him.

Other news this week has thrown Leeds’ plans into a bit of panic. Karl Darlow deciding to join Manchester United means that the Whites will now accelerate their search for a new keeper.

Lucas Perri could also leave in the coming weeks, as interest from Italy continues to grow.

Leeds United pushing for deal for World Cup star

Leeds United have had their eye on players at the World Cup this summer.

A lot of players have been able to boost their value at the tournament, off the back of phenomenal seasons at club level. The likes of Zion Suzuki and Ayase Ueda will be in demand in this window.

The 49ers have had their eye on some of these players as they build for next season.

Pascal Struijk’s departure means that the club now have to find a suitable replacement. Nico Elvedi has been on Leeds’ radar for over a year now, but nothing concrete has developed.

The Switzerland defender is having a great World Cup tournament so far.

According to Football Insider, Leeds are pushing to agree terms with the 29-year old. The club have already had one bid rejected for the Borussia Monchengladbach star this summer.

The reports claims that Daniel Farke could step in, as Elvedi has worked under him previously.

Whites could sign two defenders in summer window

Gladbach are open to selling Elvedi, but want the right price for him.

The defender is in the final year of his deal with the Bundesliga club. And after his performances at the World Cup, it is quite possible that he pushes for a move elsewhere.

Mail Sport have said that Leeds could sell another defender this summer – Sebastiaan Bornauw and Max Wober the two main names.

If they do, then this could speed up the process to sign Elvedi. The Whites are already thin at the back having sold Struijk over a week ago.

The 49ers have to add more depth to the center back options of Jaka Bijol and Joe Rodon.

I’m beginning to think the 49ers are clowns.

I am all.for the 49ers not overpaying and trying to find value but there comes a point where you have to pay up. Yes we don’t have a huge budget but there is being frugal and penny pinching. Leeds are penny pinching.
We can’t even get a deal over the line for a EPL player. How do you expect to compete with other PL sides when it comes to bidding wars?
