Leeds United played Brighton in their final home game of the season. The Whites aimed to wrap up their campaign in front of the home crowd.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side were chasing a European place, and so many had expected them to be favourites. And since the Tottenham game, pundits have claimed that the team would ‘take their foot off the gas’.

On Sunday, the away side started with all the energy and intensity. They played Leeds off the park in the opening minutes, and should have scored but were kept in the game thanks to Karl Darlow.

Daniel Farke’s men were happy to go into half-time without conceding. And the second half continued in the same way; Brighton created all the openings, but failed to score.

Leeds United were able to hold on till very late in the game, when Dominic Calvert-Lewin pounced on a poor back pass to score the winner.

The crowd at Elland Road went crazy with the celebrations during the goal, and after the game. Leeds United ended their home run on the best note.

Fans cheered as Daniel Farke and the players took a lap around Elland Road to appreciate their support. The players were not the only ones, as Georginio Rutter also took the chance to do a quick lap post-match.

The Brighton star was warmly welcomed on his return to the club, and was even cheered by the crowd during the game.

Daniel Farke made an incredible gesture late in the match, as he brought on Sam Byram for his final appearance at Elland Road. The defender ended up playing the pass that lead to van Hecke making the backpass that lead to the goal.

Sam Byram moment was a great touch by Daniel Farke

Sam Byram’s return to Elland Road was a full circle moment on Sunday. The Leeds United defender returned to the club a few seasons ago, after impressing on trial.

It was Daniel Farke who gave the green light for the defender to re-join his old side. And during his time with the club, he was a big contributor as he was a solid rotation option for the team.

It was great for Farke to reward him with a few minutes in his last day for the team this season. And it paid off in a big way, as his pass lead to the eventual winner on the day.

Sunday was a great day for the fans, and the team can top that with another win against West Ham.
