When it gets to the business end of the season, Leeds fans can tell which players Daniel Farke trusts. The Whites brought in some key signings in the championship last year.

Farke asked for additions and the club brought in Isaac Schmidt and Largie Ramazani. Many of the fanbase expected these two to feature in the campaign, but Ao Tanaka and Manor Solomon were the only signings that saw majority of the minutes on the pitch. Leeds finished as Championship winners and had one of the best attacks.

In the summer Schmidt and Ramazani were allowed to leave. Max Wober, who revealed the club asked him to leave mid season, also departed on loan. Mateo Joseph was frozen out from January, and was allowed to join Mallorca before this season.

Leeds star could leave Elland Road in coming weeks

Some of the player decisions Farke has made since he took over have not really made sense to the fans. And the trend seems to be continuing this season. On Sunday in the FA Cup semi-final, Leeds were looking for a goal late in the game. So Farke called on Sean Longstaff and Lukas Nmecha off the bench. And last season’s top scorer Joel Piroe was overlooked.

The striker has been linked with an exit since January, and now his status at the club seems to have been confirmed. TEAMtalk are reporting that Leeds have told Joel Piroe that he is free to leave the club in the summer. He is out of favour under Daniel Farke, and would need to find a new club if he wants playing time. The report adds that Scottish side Rangers, and Championship side Middlesbrough are genuine options. However, Boro will only consider a move if they are not promoted.

Farke has already explained his decision on Joel Piroe

When Dominic Calvert-Lewin only needed a few weeks to go straight into the starting role, it confused some fans. Piroe was handed just two starts in the first games of the season before being benched. Since then, Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin have been preferred to him. Daniel Farke was asked why the striker was not a regular in the team, and he explained that despite Piroe’s finishing ability, the Premier League needed a specific striker who could do more off the ball. And that is why Leeds have used Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin this season.
