Leeds United moved a step closer to completing their second signing of the summer on Tuesday after reaching an agreement with Sassuolo for defender Tarik Muharemovic.
The 23-year-old has emerged as Daniel Farke’s preferred replacement for Pascal Struijk, who joined Brighton earlier in the transfer window.
With a £34m fee now agreed between the two clubs, Leeds are focusing on finalising personal terms with Muharemovic before he travels to England to undergo a medical and complete the move.
The Whites are not slowing down, though. Even as they work to wrap up the defender’s arrival, attention has already turned to securing a third signing of the summer.

Leeds United accelerate move for one more Serie A star
Daniel Farke is not done signing centre-backs following the impending arrival of Muharemovic, and wants to bring in one more defender this summer.
Leeds have been heavily linked with a move for Borussia Monchengladbach’s 29-year-old defender Nico Elvedi, who is open to moving to Elland Road.
However, Leeds are working on a deal to sign another Serie A centre-back after Muharemovic, and negotiations are underway.
The Whites have held talks with Udinese defender Oumar Solet’s agent over a potential deal, and according to Italian daily Messaggero Veneto (via FcInterNews), the club are accelerating a move for the 26-year-old Serie A star.
Inter Milan and Juventus are also interested in the defender, but Udinese’s £21.3m valuation has deterred them from making a concrete move this summer.
However, Leeds are prepared to pay that fee for Soulet and try to convince him to move to Elland Road in the ongoing window.
Given the Whites are prepared to match Udinese’s asking price, a deal could move quickly if Soulet is ready to join the Whites.
Solet joined Udinese on a free transfer in October 2024 after the summer window had already closed, before being officially registered in January 2025.
The 26-year-old centre-back wasted little time establishing himself as a key figure in Udinese’s defence and has since made 57 appearances for the Serie A side.
Leeds need one more centre-back
Tarik Muharemovic’s impending arrival will solve a huge problem for Daniel Farke, as the Bosnian will be the natural replacement for Pascal Struijk.
However, Leeds’ interest in signing one more centre-back makes sense as the club may end up moving on one defender from their current squad.
Sebastiaan Bornauw is expected to leave Leeds to play more football after being a bit-part player in his first season at Elland Road.
He has suitors in Germany, and Leeds are keen to bring in a replacement before sanctioning his exit before the end of the summer transfer window.
Somewhere in galaxy, far, far away, Leeds United sign creative midfielder, GK and CF! Window doesn’t close for a few weeks yet, plenty of time to sign some more CBs!
