Leeds United enter race for AC Milan midfielder amid ambitious 49ers plan

After enjoying a successful return to the Premier League and finishing 14th, Leeds United have already begun planning for next season, with their focus firmly on the summer transfer window.

The Whites surpassed expectations during their first campaign back in the top flight, securing survival comfortably and establishing themselves as a competitive mid-table side.

Now, the challenge is to build on that progress. Leeds are keen to strengthen the squad, but they must also remain mindful of the Premier League’s Squad Cost Ratio rules. As a result, the club will need to be smart in the market, finding the right balance between improving the team and maintaining financial discipline.

The 49ers are keen to back Daniel Farke in the market, and they are also pushing to bring in more American players, which is a key goal for the Leeds owners.

49ers put Leeds United in the race for AC Milan star Yunus Musah

Yunus Musah played last season on loan at Atalanta and has just two years left on his contract at AC Milan.

He is not part of the Rossoneri’s plans for the future, and former Premier League scout Mick Brown has claimed that Leeds are interested in the midfielder.

He insisted that the 49ers want to add more Americans to the Leeds squad and wants to unite Musah with his United States teammate Brenden Aaronson at Elland Road.

“Yunus Musah has been on Leeds’ radar for a while”,  Brown told Football Insider.

“Their owners always seem keen to bring in American players; it’s something they’ve looked at in the past, and he could be the latest one on their radar.

“Brenden Aaronson is an example of what I mean there.

“Daniel Farke is keen to be backed in the summer; he’s spoken out to demand the board shows some ambition, so we can expect them to be busy.

“If Musah is going to become available, I expect Leeds will be one of a few clubs looking at him.

“Their scouts will know all about him, the positives and the negatives, and it would have been good for them to watch him at the World Cup, but he won’t be involved there.

“He hasn’t quite done it at AC Milan, so a change of environment and a change of league could suit him, and he will be keen to play in the Premier League.”

Nationality should not be a consideration for Leeds

Brenden Aaronson has had his critics at Leeds, but he has won over the supporters with hard graft and his willingness to cover every blade of grass for the Whites.

His nationality has nothing to do with how the supporters feel about him, and that should not be a consideration in the club’s recruitment process.

The 49ers should not be pushing Leeds to sign American players purely to grow the club’s fanbase in the United States or for commercial reasons alone.

Leeds should sign players that will improve the squad and take the club to the next level, and not because he shares the nationality of the club’s chairman.
