Leeds United have turned their attention towards the summer transfer window to build on last season’s 14th-place finish in the Premier League.

The Whites overperformed expectations in the recently concluded Premier League season by securing survival with games in hand and comfortable finishing in mid-table.

Leeds now face the challenge of improving their squad without blowing up their budget as the club need to be careful about staying within the Premier League’s new Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rules.

The club are also weighing up the addition of another striker to strengthen their attacking options, with a proven Premier League forward among the players they are considering.

Leeds are monitoring Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham is part of an Aston Villa squad that finished in the Champions League spots last season and won the Europa League to mark a successful campaign.

However, the former Chelsea forward has played only a bit-part role since joining Villa in the winter transfer window and has made just two Premier League starts.

According to TeamTalk, the striker is considering his options ahead of the summer and wants to play more football next season.

It has been claimed that Leeds are among the clubs monitoring the striker’s situation and will make a move for him if they decide to sign a number 9.

Abraham is hugely experienced and is a proven commodity in the Premier League, something Leeds want to add to their squad this summer.

Sunderland and Everton are also two more Premier League clubs who are considering making a move for the Aston Villa striker.

The striker is open to a move if he gets to play more football, but Aston Villa are still not interested in selling him.

They paid £21m for Abraham just six months back, and Unai Emery admires him for being a quality back-up option to Ollie Watkins in the Villa squad.

Leeds need one more striker

Dominic Calvert-Lewin turned out to be one of the signings of the season in the Premier League on a free transfer for Leeds.

He scored 14 Premier League goals for the Whites and was one of the most in-form strikers in the top flight last season. However, he lacked consistency.

The England forward scored in bursts and went through a long barren period, when Leeds were struggling to score consistently as well.

Leeds need one more striker who can share the load with Calvert-Lewin and help to compensate if the former Everton man has another such trough next season.

Abraham has the Premier League experience and the physicality to be the perfect partner or replacement for Calvert-Lewin in the Leeds team.
