Leeds United are virtually safe after scoring 43 points with three games left in the season. However, they are set to play a big role in deciding the final relegation spot.
Either Tottenham or West Ham are likely to be relegated by the end of the season, and Leeds will take on both clubs before the end of the season.
They will be travelling to the capital to take on Spurs on Monday night before facing West Ham at the London Stadium on the final day of the campaign.
However, Leeds could have a preference in the survival race, and one of the clubs going down could end up financially helping the Whites in the upcoming summer window.
West Ham’s relegation could help Leeds United
Crysencio Summerville is expected to leave West Ham in the summer if they get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.
The Daily Telegraph’s Mike McGrath has revealed that several top clubs would be interested in the former Leeds United winger in the upcoming summer window.
West Ham’s relegation is almost certain to trigger his exit in the summer, and Leeds are likely to benefit from the winger leaving the Hammers.
Leeds sold him for a deal worth around £25m in 2024, and most purchase agreements have a sell-on clause.
However, according to Graham Smyth, Leeds are only likely to get a percentage of the profits from the sale of Summerville.
Leeds would need West Ham to sell for a significantly higher fee than £25m to get decent money from any sell-on clause in the agreement they had with the Hammers.
The Whites could relegate West Ham on the final day
West Ham’s 3-0 defeat against Brentford last weekend has really hurt their chances of Premier League survival this season.
If they lose to Arsenal on Sunday, Leeds will be mathematically safe from relegation even before they face Tottenham in north London on Monday night.
However, Leeds could land the telling blow on the final day if West Ham are still in with a chance of survival on the last day of the season.
If the Whites are to get any money from the sale of Summervill, they could play a crucial role in ensuring that the Dutchman leaves West Ham in the summer.
